Coal Ash Victory at Lake Sinclair!
Georgia Power (GP) just announced they will be excavating all of the toxic, heavy metal-laden coal ash ponds around Lake Sinclair, the site of the former Plant Harllee Branch and placing the ash in a lined and capped facility on site!
Since 2014, Altamaha Riverkeeper has been investigating these ponds, sampling the leaks where they meet Lake Sinclair waters and finding heavy metals such as arsenic, selenium, boron and thallium. We have worked with our community, our commissioners and legislators and our partners. Together, with your support, our legislators work, our community voices, and our combined actions, we have protected Lake Sinclair for generations to come!
There are so many ways that you can help keep our rivers clean and beautiful. Responding to Action Alerts or reaching out to your elected representatives. Find your way to get involved!
